About The Listening Room

The practice of presence, coherence, and deep listening

The Work

The Listening Room is a practice of presence.

It exists as a space, both inner and outer, where we slow down, soften, and reconnect with what is most true within us. At its heart, this work is about learning to listen: to the body, to the heart, and to the quiet intelligence beneath the noise of everyday life.

In a world that pulls us constantly outward, The Listening Room offers something simple and essential — a return to coherence. A way of coming back into alignment so we can meet life with greater calm, clarity, and steadiness.

Why This Work Matters

Many people move through life from the head alone, managing responsibilities, expectations, and pressures while feeling quietly disconnected from themselves.

Over time, this disconnection can show up as stress, emotional overwhelm, fatigue, or a sense of being out of rhythm with life, even when everything appears fine on the surface.

The Listening Room exists in response to this way of living.

It is rooted in the understanding that when the nervous system is supported and the heart is brought back into the conversation, something fundamental shifts. We move from reacting to responding. From fragmentation to coherence. From effort to ease.

Listening, in this sense, is not passive. It is an active, life-giving practice that restores connection within ourselves, relationships, and within the wider world.

How the Work Is Held

The Listening Room is guided by a shared approach rather than a single method.

At its core is the belief that presence itself is healing, and that being deeply listened to—without pressure, fixing, or judgment—allows clarity and resilience to emerge naturally.

This work is held through:

  • Attuned listening and relational presence

  • Practices that support emotional regulation and nervous system balance

  • Heart-centered tools grounded in both lived experience and science

  • A respect for each person’s inner rhythm and timing

Simplicity is central. We work gently, meeting people where they are, trusting that the body and heart already carry the wisdom needed to move forward.

The Listening Room is not therapy, and it is not about self-improvement. It is a space of remembering, integration, and return to the deeper self.

Heart Coherence and the Science of Listening

At the foundation of this work is an understanding of heart coherence.

Heart coherence is a measurable physiological state in which the rhythms of the heart, nervous system, and brain come into alignment. When we are in coherence, the body functions more efficiently, emotions become more regulated, and the mind gains greater clarity and flexibility.

This work is informed by the research and practices of HeartMath®, a body of science that explores the role of the heart as an intelligent centre in the body, not only emotionally but neurologically and physiologically. HeartMath research shows that the heart sends more information to the brain than the brain sends to the heart, influencing how we perceive, feel, and respond to life.

In everyday terms, this means that when the heart is supported to settle and find rhythm, the entire system benefits. Stress reduces. Emotional reactivity softens. We regain access to choice rather than being driven by habit or overwhelm.

The practices used within The Listening Room draw on this science in a simple, accessible way, supporting people to shift their inner state through breath, attention, and heart-focused awareness.

Listening, in this context, is both an inner and physiological practice. As coherence increases, people often find they can hear themselves more clearly, trust their responses more deeply, and meet life with greater steadiness and ease.

About Charlotte Sophia

The Listening Room was founded by Charlotte Sophia.

After spending over 25 years living abroad, Charlotte returned to England and now calls the coastal town of Deal home. Her life and work have been shaped by a steady commitment to inner listening, especially in moments when certainty or clarity were absent.

The Listening Room is a continuation of that commitment.

Charlotte’s work weaves together deep listening, presence-based conversation, emotional awareness, and heart-centered practices.

Charlotte is a certified HeartMath® trainer, certified love and relationship coach, meditation teacher, and ordained priestess, with a background that bridges both the practical, contemplative and spiritual. She also brings the grounded perspective of someone who has founded and run her own business for many years (an organic cafe and market), understanding first-hand the pressures and responsibilities people carry in everyday life.

Charlotte does not position herself as an expert with answers. Rather, she holds space as a guide, creating the conditions in which clarity, coherence, and self-trust can arise from within.

A Growing Field of Practice

The Listening Room is not intended to be held by one person alone.

As this work grows, it will be carried by a small collective of practitioners who are aligned with its core values. Presence, integrity, simplicity, and deep respect for the human nervous system and heart.

Each practitioner will bring their own expression and expertise, while sharing a common foundation in listening, coherence, and heart-centered practice.

In this way, The Listening Room is envisioned as a living field rather than a fixed form. Responsive, relational, and rooted in what truly supports life.
